"October 2008 will mark my 10-year anniversary working at St. Luke's Surrey Place. This has been the most rewarding work period of my life. Not only do I have autonomy in the choice of activities that I choose to bring to the residents, I am fortunate enough to be able to communicate and offer musical stimulation to a wide range of people who appear to benefit from the memories these sounds facilitate. For the past 10 years I have been able to think, at the end of the day, about how many lives I have had the opportunity to touch and to bring joy. Recognizing that I have been able to bring happiness and comfort to someone who is confined to a chair, perhaps by taking them on a fishing or lunch outing, is as satisfying as any monetary reward.
